Overview

DIESEL is an Italian retail clothing company, that recently went through a complete rebrand. I was inspired by this company’s bold, risky and unconventional branding. The brief requested extensive research into our chosen client and creating a website for them from the ground up – focusing on our HTML, CSS and JavaScript knowledge.

URBANPRODUCTION

Urban Production is a visually striking fashion website. The homepage uses bold contrast and white space to emphasize the brand. Scrolling reveals a bright, captivating navigation page. Hovering over menu titles inverts the entire color scheme, attracting attention but potentially confusing users at first.

Enfants Riches Déprimés

Enfants Riches Déprimés, like Diesel, uses a bold aesthetic. The homepage sets the tone with grunge and gothic visuals, while the responsive design adapts to different screen sizes (hamburger menu for mobile). The typography is a mix of modern and traditional fonts, reflecting both elegance and a modern edge.

ZARA

Zara's website takes an unconventional approach. The homepage prioritizes the brand with a clear logo and runway dates. Product images are atmospheric lifestyle shots, prioritizing storytelling over practical product display. This approach, while controversial for some, reflects Zara's rebellious brand identity.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Considering Diesel’s bold and experimental styles, the target audience would be young adults (ages 18-24) worldwide who embrace the brand's rebellious style and use fashion for self-expression.

The website redesign should be eye-catching yet hold their attention, considering their shorter attention spans.

design research

When diving into Diesel's features, aesthetic, and website ideas, it is crucial to grasp the key elements that require attention. Visualizing potential design solutions through quick-fire sketches breathes life into the brainstormed concepts.

By incorporating interactive features and a visually striking design, I aimed to create an engaging and memorable online experience for Diesel's target audience. I believe the final product achieved this goal, and I'm excited to take these learnings into future design projects!
